For the first time in its history, an American court sentenced the admin of fraudulent ICO projects to imprisonment.
Local media reported that one Brooklyn programmer Maxim Zaslavsky was sentenced to 18 months in prison. The prosecution has proofs that this person is the organizer of two schemes to attract investor funds.
Zaslavsky advertised two crypto projects allegedly provided with diamonds and real estate. Its victims were more than 1,000 investors.
According to Richard Donahue, New York's Eastern District Attorney, the victims invested about $300,000 in fraudulent ICOs. The defendant's lawyer said that Zaslavsky was ready to return the money to investors, but his accounts were blocked.
Fraudsters periodically take advantage of people's growing interest in digital currencies. A large number of suspicious schemes launched on the Internet to steal money from investors.
For example, in the summer, fraudsters organized the sale of Libra tokens, the launch of which has not even taken place, since Facebook cannot yet agree with Congress on the regulation of transactions with this asset.
